IP Audio Conferencing
Fully integrated, multi-way, full duplex
voice-over-IP audio conferencing offers dramatic cost savings over traditional
telephone conference calls, and allows instructors (the session leader) to
identify and manage classroom interaction (who is speaking and/or using the
collaboration tools).
IP Video Conferencing.
Real-time, multi-point video conferencing
enables users to see the session leader or other designated participants from
within the virtual classroom. A unique adaptive video bandwidth feature ensures
the highest possible performance over connections as low as 28.8 kbps.
Breakout Rooms and Labs.
Session leaders can break the main session into
multiple breakout rooms for group or individual lab exercises. The leader can
"look over the participant's shoulder" and even take control of his/her
application or provide interactive assistance.
Multiple Presenters.
Centra
Symposium supports an unlimited number of co-presenters and subject matter
experts.
Evaluations and Quizzes.
A wide choice of questions can be optionally
auto-graded and reported on from the database later.
Surveys.
Leaders and presenters can create and "hand out"
ad hoc surveys.
Whiteboard.
Multi-user, interactive whiteboard markup,
including content created in a breakout room, can be saved for later review.
Choreography.
The session leader can control which
participants have the ability to speak and interact with the collaboration
tools.
Feedback.
Participants can raise their hands, indicate
yes/no polling, demonstrate laughter and applause responses, utilize
public/private text chat, and provide anonymous feedback to the leader and
presenters.
Full Screen Content Viewing.
Leaders can automatically expand the
participants' content windows for viewing large shared applications or Web
pages.
Peer-to-Peer Interaction.
The leader can choose to open the "floor" to
several participants at a time for peer-to-peer interaction and learning.
Session Recording and Playback.
With easy to use features for recording,
editing, and storage, users can create professional, self-paced recordings in
industry standard formats. These recordings can be viewed outside the Centra
environment with any standard media player or included as content within a
live or self-paced session.
Self-Paced Content Viewing.
Events (class meetings) can be configured to
allow enrolled participants access to event content before and after the live
session.
Application Sharing.
Leaders and participants can share any Windows
application, including their entire desktop or even a remote server, with other
participants for IT and software product training.
Web Safari.
Allows the session leader to take the
participants on a synchronized Web tour. Participants can see the leader's
"pointer" and will automatically scroll when the leader scrolls up and down on a
Web page.
Just-in-Time PowerPoint Import.
Co-presenters can upload their own PowerPoint
presentations on the fly, even after the session has begun.
Multimedia.
Supports pre-recorded video clips, audio clips,
animated GIFs and other multimedia content including Flash, DHTML, and
JavaScript.
Centra Agenda Builder.
Agenda Builder is a sophisticated agenda
creation tool for building Web-based evaluation forms and assembling event
content into a structured, customized format.
28.8 kbps Dialup Support.
Full product functionality is supported with
Centra's thin client Web application over a single network connection as low as
28.8 kbps, allowing even the most remote users a fully interactive experience.
Content Pre-caching.
Events can be configured by the session leader
so that the event content will be automatically pre-cached (downloaded) on the
participant's PC. This is done if the session leader has a large quantity of
slides (or large graphic files) to display during the session. This feature
would drastically reduce load times for the students using a slow dial-up modem.
Event Scheduling and
Enrollment.
A robust Web-based scheduling and registration
interface allows users to browse the event schedule, self-enroll in events, or
be pre-enrolled by an event manager.
Tracking and Reporting.
All assessment, user, event, and attendance data
are tracked and reported. Additional custom reports can easily be generated.
Content Management.
Event content is managed and organized to allow
the same agenda content to be easily re-used in different Symposium events or
even on different servers.
Firewall Transparency.
The unique Adaptive Connection feature
automatically configures Centra to work through corporate firewalls using the
best connection possible.
Smart Client Auto-Upgrade.
The Symposium client application will
automatically upgrade itself whenever the Centra Server is upgraded or a new
patch is installed on the server, dramatically reducing the amount of IT
involvement in product upgrades.
System Check.
A Web-based, self-service system check makes
sure each user's system, including audio settings, is properly configured before
the live event begins.
Password Reminder.
Provides a secure solution for users who forget
their login information, reducing the amount of resources required for end user
support.
